The Roxy in Greenville, NC, incorporated as a nonprofit community arts project from 1975, was the inspiration of Bill "Shep" Shepherd and others who left a legacy, described in part below.
I was warm-up act for James Cotton that night. It was my first time playing at the Roxy. We later partied all night with James at someone's house on Chestnut Street.
I was the opening act for John Hartford. He introduced me to start the show. Such a nice guy. A great experience. So many good memories of the Roxy. --- Frankie Martin
